City of Albuquerque, New Mexico Code of Ordinances 7-11-1

JURISDICTION

STATE OF NEW MEXICO STATUTORY CHAPTERS
Pursuant to 7-11-1 City Council finds that the State Legislature wants municipalities to implement local traffic laws to address local problems and that the Legislature does not intend for the State of New Mexico Motor Vehicle Code to apply statewide to the exclusion of local traffic laws. NOTE The City Council declares that this article is a nuisance abatement article enacted pursuant to the city's inherent authority under state law and that the remedies are purely civil and not criminal in nature. (Ord. 65-2005; Am. Ord. 16-2006) STATE OF NEW MEXICO STATUTE 35-3-3. Jurisdiction; civil actions.  A. Magistrates have jurisdiction in civil actions in which the debt or sum claimed does not exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000), exclusive of interest and costs.
